If you are a graduate student willing to present a paper related to one of our tracks, please indicate that you are a paper presenter before you start your application. You do not need to answer the essay; instead, include your paper topic, title, and abstract in the box. If your paper is not selected, you will still be eligible to attend as a delegate.

You can begin your application by clicking here. The application process is rolling, and any applicant that applies can expect to hear back within two weeks. Additional Questions can be directed to help@hpair.org.

Frequently Asked Questions

I know the Harvard Conference Applications are rolling, but you must have an absolute deadline

The absolute deadline is Feb 10, we will try to process applications after which as well, but you will run the risk of registration filling up and having no space left over.

I do not currently hold a passport, is a passport number required?

The passport number is used to provide the US State Department with a list of accepted delegates to streamline Visa procedures. If you do not currently hold a passport but have applied for one, it is fine to put [none] or your national ID in the box. However, please update it as soon as you receive your passport. While you may put [none] in the box please do not make up a random number such as [99999999], as that may cause misunderstandings along the way with immigration authorities. For US Residents and Citizens and others that do not require a visa on entry, or do not wish to have the state department be forwarded this number; you are not required to enter the number for the Harvard Conference, please put [US Resident] or [Omitted] in the box.

I'm on vacation right now, can I have an extension?

We will process all the applications submitted to us before Jan 15 by Feb 1. However, you may still apply after Jan 15 on a rolling basis, and we will accept you if and when space becomes avaiable. Typically that means that if you apply late, you will only get to attend if other delegates have canceled their spot for scheduling or travel reasons. HPAIR encourages you to apply as early as possible.

Will HPAIR issue official invitations for Visas into US?

Yes, accepted delegates will receive official visa support letters from HPAIR.

Can I attend the Academic/Harvard conference if I am not a student? Do I count as a student?

Generally speaking, we only accept students. Professors, media, sponsors, and VIPs should contact us directly at help@hpair.org. You are counted as a student if you currently attending an accredited undergraduate or graduate / postgraduate program, have graduated from such a program no more than six months ago at the start of the conference, or have been accepted to and will be attending such an institution no more than six months after the start of the conference.

Is this conference meant primarily for undergraduates or graduates / postgraduates?

All students are welcome. Graduate / postgraduate students or soon-to-be graduate students will have the option of applying to present a paper at the conference if they so wish.

What are paper presentations?

Graduate / postgraduate students working on a paper may choose to present it to other graduate / postgraduate students in their workshop if they so wish. We require a brief abstract (~250 words) for those students interested in doing so. A final (or at least more complete) draft should be submitted when paying the registration fee.

I have just completed my undergraduate education and will be attending a graduate/postgraduate program after the conference. May I present a paper?

Exceptional undergradates may choose to present a paper. Generally speaking, undergraduate papers are not chosen but choosing to present a paper will have no effect on your application as a regular delegate.

Will applying to present a paper affect my chances if attending the conference as a regular delegate?

No.
