Oceaneering has a reel lay system for pipelines that
can accommodate up to 4" flowlines. The system consists of using an
installation reel, rollers and straightener. The installation reel
holds the products and the pipe tension. The pipe is routed through a
set of rollers over the top of the vessel A-frame. The pipe is then
sent through a tower that has a pipe straightener. The straightener
pivots and is mounted to rails which allow the whole straightener to
slide. This configuration allows for large variances in lay angle.
