The great founders such as Frege, Russell, and Wittgenstein will be discussed first in order to understand the underlying spirit and motivation of analytic philosophy. We will then survey some of the problems of the philosophy of language, centering on theories of reference. Finally, we will examine the emergence of the philosophy of the mind as the core of philosophy in the analytic tradition.
