This course gives a general survey of the history of science in Western societies from the ancient Greek period to the 20th century. There is a special emphasis on the Scientific Revolution of the 16th and 17th centuries, through which modern Western science and its disciplines and methods emerged from ancient and medieval modes of scientific investigation.
