Professor William Alford is a professor at the Harvard Law School. His research focuses on Chinese law and legal history and the legal aspects of international trade and technology transfer. Professor Alford graduated from Amherst College in 1970 with a B.A. in American Studies. He received a M.A. in Chinese Studies in 1974 and a M.A. in Chinese History in 1975 from Yale University. He recevied his JD from Harvard Law School in 1977 and returned to Harvard in 1990 as the Henry L. Stimson Professor Law and the Director of East Asian Legal Studies.
