The Lecture Series comprise the Ateneo HPAIR Union’s staple project: it intends to cultivate awareness and discussion among university students about globally-significant issues. With this year’s theme of Redefining Filipino Nationalism amidst Globalization, the topics for the Lecture Series have been chosen with both Nationalism and International Relations at their forefront.
Tentative topics include the Controversy of Language (Filipino versus English), Foreign Service, Nationalist Music and Asian Regionalism. Invited speakers range from local faculty of the Ateneo de Manila University to those directly engaging with these issues in their field. After each lecture, an open forum is held wherein participants can direct their inquiries on the topic of the lecture, to its speaker. This not only stirs interaction but also stimulates students to exercise critical judgment in receiving ideas. The Lecture Series are open to whoever wishes to attend them, both from within and without the Ateneo de Manila University community.
