Stanford Wins Lopsided Victory

Away at Oregon, Never Lost the Lead

Stanford showed off its power by defeating Oregon State 78-58, after a shocking loss by Arizona State had pushed Stanford's NCAA ranking down from first to third.

Stanford did not relinquish the lead even once during the game, which was held at Oregon on the 13th. It appeared that they had recovered completely from their defeat by Arizona. Even though Oregon mobilized its five best players, including Heywooda, who was released from the disabled list only a few days ago, Oregan was unable to resist Stanford's onslaught.

The most significant player was Stanford guard Madison, who contributed greatly to Stanford’s win by blocking Oregon’main striker, Brian Jackson, holding him to just 7 points. While Stanford lifted regular players for benchwarmers, Jacobson, the White College Michael Jordan, scored 16 points while Moseley scored 15.

Oregon appeared to have lost its nerve even before the game began. It could find no way around Stanford’s stingy defense. It was as though they were beating their heads against a wall. Stanford recorded 12 wins and 1 loss by this victory, keeping their NCAA ranking third after Cincinnati and Arizona.
